Lending a Hand

Last weekend at the Miss Keene Area/ Kearsarge Valley (a case where one pageant is held but two crowns are awarded to the top two scorers) I got to get a taste of what it is like being a director of a pageant.  I helped with coordinating things before hand, preparing judges gift bags, choreographing opening number, and helping backstage.  Now if you've been following me for a while, you know I was crowned Miss Keene Area in Feb. 2010 so it was nice to be able to help out my former director, Marion Murray who is a long-time  volunteer of the scholarship program.

By the way, the show was fantastic.  It was themed after the braodway show "The Wiz."  Miss NH 2011, Regan Hartley sang a couple of times and was absolutely amazing.  Seriously-  One of the most gifted singers ever.

Congrats to the NEW Miss Kearsarge, (my good friend) Katrina Ulaky and Miss Keene Area, Krtistin Crossland (her first Miss America local crown.)

Carving a Trail of Hope 5K Road Race

Last year myself and a couple other Miss NH titleholders put together a road race to benefit the Children's Miracle Network.  The closest hospital to benefit from this organization is the Children's Hospital Boston which has made miracles happen for so many local youngsters with a critical illness.
Please join us this year for the 2nd Annual Children's Miracle Network Road Race.

MLL, Sox, Dougie Hamilton

Ever wonder about Major League Lacrosse?  The All-Star game was held at Harvard Stadium last week.  The skills competition was a lot of fun to watch as the players got very creative with their shots (pictured above, Paul Rabil hops the hood of a car and gets a slam dunk.  Remind you of someone?)

Dougie Hamilton interview at Sunday's Bruins development camp.  I don't know why I didn't ask him if he would teach me how to Dougie.  Silly me!

Extreme Sailing Series in Boston

http://www.nesn.com/2011/07/extreme-sailing-series-comes-to-fan-pier-on-boston-waterfront.html

For the first time ever, the Extreme Sailing Series made a stop in North America.  It wasn't a coincidence that these came to Boston for 4th of July celebrations.
The special part about this sport is that a '5th man' can ride as a passenger on the boat.  While the crew does it's thing, the rider clenches a netted area, hanging on for their life.  It was amazing to watch!

Your New Miss Greater Derry

http://missderry.org/index.htm

I was crowned Miss Greater Derry 6-24-11, the 25th anniversary crown.  I won $5,250 in scholarship! This was the first pageant of the 'pageant season' that I was eligible for.  Now that I won a local crown I have months to prepare for Miss New Hampshire in May 2012.  You must win a local title to be a competitor at Miss NH.  This will be my fifth year competing but I know it's going to be the best because every year MGD always does VERY well at Miss NH.  I'm excited to serve this tight-knit and supportive community.  Look for my upcoming appearances and community service....
